Environmental impact

Whilst the reduction of heat loss is always welcome it should be remembered that houses need to be ventilated both for comfort and for the structure to breath.

Double glazing

It is normally possible to double glaze a sash window retaining the existing box frames (if they are in good condition) and an average inclusive cost is in the region of £700 per window .

Draught reduction systems

Installing a draught reduction system requires fully servicing a sash window and then replacing the parting and staff beads with brush inlaid beading to seal the perimeter. Additional draught reduction brushes are routed into the upper and meeting rails of the window to improve contact at these points. Draught reduction systems will do four things; make a home more comfortable, make your windows easier to move, save on fuel bills and reduce your CO2 emissions.
