Stroud Sash Window Services - 01453 861025

How long will it take?

A draught reduction service will take one person between three and four hours to complete.

How do you access the window?

The majority of services are conducted from the inside of the property. We need at least 2 square metres of space to work safely, but we can help move large items of furniture if necessary.

Do I need to do anything before you arrive?

We will normally put dust sheets out but you must make sure that all valuable equipment or furniture is either removed or safety covered and protected from dust.

If you have valuable curtains or blinds you may wish to remove them

If you have wooden floors that can be damaged by work benches or tools we suggest you cover these with cardboard or similar non slip protective material.

The sash window draught reduction service:

BUDGET DRAUGHT PROOFING

Because the typical Victorian 3 bed terrace or semi has at least 10 windows some of our customers have chosen to limit the outlay by reducing the number of windows they address, prioritising some windows over others (typically bedrooms and bathrooms).

As we believe that there are clear benefits in having a draught reduction system throughout we have developed a new budget system that is more affordable for both large and small properties.

This alternative draught proofing product does all that the full draught reduction service offers but has a shorter life span. This system uses a super efficient surface mounted stick on brush strip which is attached to your sashes (concealed in the same way as the main system) as opposed to being routed into the sashes and beading's themselves. We believe it works just as well but by reusing your existing beading's we can reduce the amount of labour and new parts and hence the cost.

We offer these systems from £149.99* including VAT and they are guaranteed for 2 years as long as the sashes and box frames are properly and carefully painted.

*Excludes any glazing, repairs to the box frames or sashes if required.

How do we install a draught reduction system?:

  • Dismantling of the window
  • Checking, cleaning and lubricating the pulleys
  • Weighing the sashes and checking the weights for counter-balance
  • Scraping away the paint on areas that obstruct the movement of the sashes
  • Re-cording the window with cotton sash cord and correct weights
  • Apply self adhesive draught reduction brushes to the perimeter surfaces of the sashes
  • Rout in a brush strip to the meeting rails (the centre rails)
  • Re-fit sashes in alignment with the beading's
  • Paint all exposed timber with white primer
  • Wax and check for operation
